The Global Summit for Diaspora Networks in Science

FYI for anyone interested in #diaspora #science networks and #networking. Great to see my old friend Maria L Gallo, EdD continuing to champion the connections between #alumni and diaspora - she is on to something really important there!

For example, one of the areas I have learnt the most from in terms of diaspora engagement is the work of corporate alumni. Or, corporate diasporas as I call them! That is a lens that has seen the diaspora concept pop up in market leading trade publications which is so important for the sector. It is putting the diaspora concept in rooms that it just could not get into 10 - 15 years ago.

There is a burgeoning interest in diaspora #humancapital and what that means in action. I am a big believer in a sectoral and segmented approach to that topic to really add value not just for the advancement of sectors but to the personal and professional passions of diaspora. Science has grabbed this and we have seen some remarkable science diaspora networks emerge at all levels.

More importantly, as talent has won the global war for talent, the intricate flows that comprise diaspora talent are now a key determinant of competitiveness for many organizations working in such sectors from academia, non-profits, to industry. Looking forward to seeing what this summit comes up with.
