Black History & Culture Collection

This is pretty special from Getty Images on #diasporaengagement through their "Black History & Culture Collection" and what a resource for anyone working in those areas. Pretty powerful words from Renata Cherlise & others on intentionality of storytelling to "delve into the unseen, untold, and uncovered". Such poignant words through a #diaspora lens.

As someone who began their diaspora journey through the lens of collective memory and its impact on foreign policy, I get such a buzz when I see collaborations like this. Brilliant by Getty Images to put their power behind the power of diaspora storytelling. Diaspora engagement is really entering new ground and as we do so, it is imperative that we do not forget the real essence of diaspora as a human experience and all the complexity that brings with it.

Those human dynamics are where the tears, laughter, joy, sadness, and everything else that makes this work so special lives and breathes. Understanding its complexity is where you get to see the true magic of diaspora engagement for well-being of societies at home and abroad.

The "collection is available for projects focused on education around the histories and cultures of the African/Black Diaspora, dating back to the 1800s. Content created from the collection by partners must not produce revenue and/or be included in any revenue driving advertising or marketing", more info below and let's spread the word on this, it really is a remarkable resource.
